TEF Canada is one of the two French tests accepted by IRCC for Express Entry, permanent residence and citizenship. Strong French can add substantial points to a Comprehensive Ranking System profile, and the difference between NCLC 5 and NCLC 7 often decides an application. Both are accepted by IRCC. TEF Canada tends to suit candidates who are comfortable with argumentation and persuasive speaking, while TCF Canada rewards precision in its multiple-choice sections. In your first consultation we look at a sample of your French and recommend the test likely to give you the higher NCLC.
Most candidates study for 8 to 12 weeks with two lessons per week. If you are moving from NCLC 4 to NCLC 7 the realistic range is closer to four to six months.
